Golden State Warriors: DeMarcus Cousins is just what the team needs
As the team continues to struggle, a return to action from DeMarcus Cousins is exactly what the Golden State Warriors need
Much of the 2018-19 NBA season has felt more like a task than fun for the Golden State Warriors, and their current record very much reflects that.
The Warriors are 23-12, currently on their worst win pace since the 2013-14 season. They’ve already lost 12 games this year. For context, this team’s loss totals over the last four years are as follows: 24, 15, 9, 15. They are currently on pace to lose close to 30 games, something that would be seen as a huge under-performance considering this team’s roster.
However, there might be one variable that could inject this team with the breath of fresh air that they’ve been missing over the last few months to start the year, and that would be the return of DeMarcus Cousins.

Cousins is still weeks away, and the hope is that he’ll be back at some point in 2019. However, it’s not his mere talent that this team needs on the court. Even though he’s a great player, when healthy, there’s going to be an adjustment process.
He may not even get back to his all-star level this year, that’s how serious of an injury that he’s coming off of. But what the Warriors could benefit more than anything is his presence on the floor and excitement to be back on the floor.
That, more than anything, is something that the Warriors have been missing for much of this season. There hasn’t been much excitement or fun around this team lately. Heck, they even had an argument that led headlines for a few weeks between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.
Not fun.
In the end, the Warriors will still be the favorites with or without Cousins when the NBA Playoffs come around. Although, having Boogie on the active roster could very well give this team the punch in the arm that they need to regain their mojo and run through the rest of the league once again.
