NBA Rumors: John Wall to miss remainder of season after surgery
NBA Rumors: Washington Wizards star John Wall will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 NBA season after he undergoes surgery on his left foot
The Washington Wizards have gotten off to a terrible start to begin the year. They’re 10 games under .500 and nearly five games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Now, if they’re going to make a second half push for the playoffs, they’re going to have to do it without John Wall.
Wall is expected to undergo season-ending surgery to repair his left heel, ESPN reported Saturday afternoon. The hits indeed just keep coming for the Wizards this season.

"Washington Wizards star John Wall is planning to undergo season-ending surgery to repair bone spurs in his left heel, league sources told ESPN.Wall, 28, is expected to finalize a timetable for the procedure in the coming days, sources said. Recovery could sideline the point guard for six months."
Considering where the Wizards stand at this point in the season, it’s not a great spot for the team moving forward. In the long-run, though, I suppose this is the smart move. Better to have the surgery now and fix the issue rather than him going through these same issues next year or the year after, when the supermax extension is in effect.
There’s no question that the Wizards are a worse team on paper today than they were yesterday. Still, it’s going to be interesting to see how this team performs in John Wall’s absence. In the past, there have been some whispers about this team possibly playing better as a unit when Wall is not in the lineup.
Well, that theory is going to to be put to the test now that the Wizards will have to play more than half of this season without him. If nothing else, the Wizards are going to find out if he’s really the problem.
It’s also going to be interesting to see what this injury means for a few of the other veterans on the roster. Will this loss mean that the team will be sellers at the NBA Trade Deadline? Will they stand pat and see if this team can come together without Wall?
