Sitting 10 games under .500, and falling further and further behind in the East standings, should the Washington Wizards be sellers at the NBA Trade Deadline?

For much of the season, the Washington Wizards have been pretty terrible this season. Despite all the talent on their roster, they have, once again, begun to fall short of expectations heading into this season.

Which leaves them with more questions than answers at this point, especially with the huge dark cloud sitting above their heads which is the supermax contract extension for John Wall that comes into pay next season.

The Wizards are 13-23, nearly at the halfway point of the 2018-19 NBA season, and don’t have any clear direction of where they’re heading. They have a roster that suggests this team should be one of the top 8 teams in the Eastern Conference, but they’ve played nothing like a playoff team so far this season.

And with the NBA Trade Deadline quickly approaching, it begs the question: should the Wizards be buyers or sellers this season? While this may be an easy decision from an outside perspective, let’s remind you that this is a management group that just traded FOR Trevor Ariza.

He was supposed to come in and help solve some of this team’s issues as they make a push for the playoffs. Sadly, that hasn’t happened. In fact, the Wizards are only 1-5 since acquiring Ariza, with terrible losses to the lowly Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls – the two worst teams in the NBA.

Washington has a bottom third in the league offense and a bottom three defense, and the sixth worst Net Rating in the NBA. Overall, this is a really bad team that is not getting any better. They have some big names on the roster, and it might be time to shake it all up.
