The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently the worst team in the NBA, but the return of Kevin Love could change that and that’s why they should move him at the trade deadline

As it stands, if the season ended today, the Cleveland Cavaliers would have the best odds to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, that could soon change with the expectation that Kevin Love will return back to the lineup at some point in January.

Assuming that Love makes his return back to the lineup, it would be pretty unexpected if the Cavs still finished with the worst record in the NBA, especially when you look at some of the other team’s rosters at the bottom of the standings.

There’s an argument to be made that for the betterment of the franchise, the team should trade Kevin Love – and sooner rather than later. If you’re under the belief that there is a player in this draft (Zion Williamson) that is even close to the talent that LeBron James was coming out of High School back in 2003, there’s really no decision here.

There are two ways to move forward, you either rest Love for the remainder of the season or you trade him at the trade deadline. And it wouldn’t be a great look to rest a healthy Love, who really hasn’t played much of the year, for the entire second half of the season.

It’s too early to shut down a player, especially one at the level of Love, for the year. It wouldn’t be a smart move, and would raise more questions than answers for this franchise moving forward. Another thing is, moving Love would actually be the best move for the franchise too.

He’s the most valuable asset currently on the roster and really don’t have any business keeping him on the roster. The reason why they extended his contract during the off-season was for this very moment – to try and get something for him in a trade.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, since forever, have struggled with making the right decisions. The only reason they won an NBA Championship a few years ago was because they were lucky enough for LeBron to be born in Ohio.

If they’re going to return to relevance in the NBA again, is luck. And in order to get a little more of it, it would be best to trade Kevin Love – and sooner rather than later would be best.
