NBA Trade Rumors: The Portland Trail Blazers will reportedly target Jeremy Lin as the NBA Trade Deadline approaches
For much of the season, the Portland Trail Blazers have been what they’ve been for the past couple of season. They’re a solid team that has hovered over .500 and near the middle of the Western Conference playoff picture.
Led by Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, the Blazers have proven to be a real threat in the West. However, as we’ve seen over the last couple of seasons, they’re not really seen as much of a threat come playoff time.
Mostly because, this team isn’t really much more than just their two dynamic backcourt mates. And while they’re still really good – better than what most teams have at the No. 1 and 2 – it’s not enough to get them over the hump in the West.

But according to a report from Sporting News, the team is expected to be active in the weeks leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline. One player that the Blazers are expected to target is Jeremy Lin.
"Portland, too, would be willing to part with its first-rounder to add depth to a roster that badly needs help in the backcourt and on the wing. The Trail Blazers could be a player for Ross or Simmons, too. But sources tell SN that they have expressed interest in another player expected to be made available for a first-round pick: Atlanta point guard Jeremy Lin."
Lin has been having a good season with the Atlanta Hawks this year, averaging 11 points and four assists per game on a career high 49 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent from 3-point range.
At this point in his career, there’s no question that he can still be a weapon off any team’s bench. He might struggle on the defensive end, but I don’t think anyone would question that he can be instant offense off the pine.
He won’t come in and change the dynamic by any means, but could added much needed depth to this team’s bench. When it comes to scoring, the Blazers have a bottom 10 bench. That leaves much of the offensive onus on the starters to get the job done on a nightly basis.
And while they’ve done a great job in carrying the team for much of this season, adding some scoring punch to the bench could widen this team’s margin for error, especially when it comes to the playoffs.
As the NBA Trade Deadline draws near, keep an eye on the Blazers. They’re only four games back of the top seed in the West, and are expected to be active.
