6. Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
Season stats: 28.9 ppg, 13.3 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.7 spg, 2.6 bpg, 51% fg, 33% 3 pt, 81% ft
Team record: 20-23 (12th in West)
Now, here’s the man who many people picked as their NBA MVP before the season started and statistically, Anthony Davis is definitely having an MVP-caliber season. I mean, he’s pretty much a lock for 30/15/5/2/3 every single night on better than 50 percent shooting.
AD is so dominant on both sides of the ball and in every facet of the game that he seems like a prime candidate to take over LeBron as the league’s best player in the next couple of years. Yes, he is that good!
The one thing that’s been holding Davis back this year has been the New Orleans Pelicans‘ record. They have had to deal with injuries to key players like Elfrid Payton and Nikola Mirotic so hopefully, they can begin climbing up the rankings with these guys back on the court.
If the Pelicans can go on a run in the second half of the season and make it into the playoffs, AD will be right back in this MVP race!
