NBA Trade Rumors: 5 teams who should target Dennis Smith Jr.

The Miami Heat are another team that I firmly believe should be in on the Dennis Smith Jr. sweepstakes, if the Mavs wouldn’t be looking for any prime young prospects – otherwise, Miami wouldn’t have much to work with.

But if Dallas is looking for a draft pick or two, perhaps the Heat should pick up the phone and make a courtesy call. Adding a player like DSJ would fall into line with the recent youth movement that is currently taking place in Miami.

The big question here, of course, is whether Justise Winslow and Dennis Smith Jr. would be able to play side-by-side, considering that Winslow is now the team’s starting point guard. However, in the new position-less NBA, it could work.

Even more so if both can continue to shoot the deep ball with consistency, as they both have so far this season. Again, because of Miami’s salary cap situation, a deal would almost have to include a third team, but nevertheless the Heat should be interested.
