NBA Trade Rumors: The Utah Jazz are a team to watch when it comes to Otto Porter Jr., who could hit the trade block in the coming weeks

The Washington Wizards may be short-handed, after losing John Wall for the season, but they haven’t thrown the towel on the season just yet.

Even as they sit two games out of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and six games under .500 a little more than past the halfway part of the season, the Wizards have no plans of being sellers at the NBA Trade Deadline, which is just two weeks away.

However, that could chance if the Wizards fall into a losing streak over the next few days. If it gets to the point where Washington falls even further back of the playoffs, the team’s stance could change. And one player that could hit the trade block if the losing continues is Otto Porter Jr.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania (subscription required), in the event that the Wizards fall even further out of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference, the Utah Jazz are the team to watch when it comes to a potential deal of Porter.

Shams also notes in this report that the Wizards are adamant on not trading Bradley Beal. They want to keep Beal for the long haul and believe that he might be their best piece on the roster at the moment, considering that Wall is out of the season.

Porter is not having the career year that he enjoyed last season, but is still averaging a solid 13 points and six rebounds per game on 48 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.

If there’s a team out there looking for a legit wing that can keep the defense honest, they should look nor further than Porter. The difficulty here that could turn some teams away is his contract, of course. Porter is due $27 million next season and has a player option for $28 million the year after.

For any team that is looking to go all-in in the next couple of seasons though, it does make sense. And perhaps the Jazz are that team.
