NBA Trade Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers targeting 3-point shooter at deadline
NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to target a 3-point shooter as the NBA Trade Deadline closes in. Who will it be?
The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t done a great job of staying afloat in the Western Conference without LeBron James. However, they’re still within striking distance of landing home-court advantage in the first-round of the playoffs.
Assuming LeBron makes his return soon, the Lakers should be fine in terms of making the playoffs. I don’t think anyone really believes they’re in real danger of missing out on the post-season at this point.
Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean they won’t be interested in adding to their roster in the coming weeks. The NBA Trade Deadline is less than two weeks away, and if the Lakers are going to strike any fear into their opponents deep into the playoffs, they’re going to need some reinforcements.

Even though the Lakers won’t likely have the opportunity to land a big star in the next 10 days, there’s a good chance that they could add some 3-point shooting before the deadline. And that’s something that can’t be overstated in today’s game.
Adding a 3-and-D wing should be a priority for the Lakers in the coming days, and it reportedly is according to The Athletic’s Bill Oram (subscription required). A few names that would fit the bill in the case are Wayne Ellington, Kent Bazemore or even J.R. Smith. Each of these players are being shopped by their respective teams, and could find their way to Los Angeles.
With that said, I’m sure there will be a number of names and options for the Lakers over the next few days. And they won’t just make a deal just for the sake of it. They’re going to look for the right deal for them, and you can’t really blame them.
When LeBron makes his return, expect the Lakers to go on a run. And maybe it’ll be with an added face or two.
