NBA Trade Rumors: The Boston Celtics aren’t expected to make any major moves in the week leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline
Heading into this season, many expected the Boston Celtics to be one of the few contenders in the Eastern Conference that could legitimately compete with the Golden State Warriors. So far, the Celtics have looked everything but the part.
Even in the East, they’ve for the most part fallen short of expectations. The Celtics are currently 5th in the conference and 5.5 games off the pace for the top seed.
Nevertheless, no matter where the Celtics finish in the regular season, there’s no question that many are still going to consider them a favorite to make the NBA Finals.

However, they could change that by making a bold move at the NBA Trade Deadline. It’s an option, I’m sure, has been discussed by the team behind closed doors. Though, according to Tom Haberstroh of NBC Sports, the Celtics aren’t expected to make any moves when the deadline comes in early February.
One of the reasons why is the unfortunate injury to Victor Oladipo, which will no question have a negative impact on the red-hot Indiana Pacers. The Celtics must feel strong about their ability to rebound during the second half push, and with their chances against the Sixers, Raptors and Bucks in a seven-game series.
Another potential reason for the Celtics willing to stand pat at the NBA Trade Deadline could be the potential for a big move during the summer. Boston keeping their assets for a potential pursuit of Anthony Davis during the summer also makes the most sense.
Short of landing a star caliber player that would put them over the hump right now, it doesn’t make much sense for Boston to go all-in (in terms of their assets) this season. And there’s not a star player of that caliber on the trade block right now.
