NBA Trade Rumors: Thon Maker has requested a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks, in search of more playing time elsewhere

The Milwaukee Bucks may have the best record in the NBA, but that doesn’t seem to be enough for third-year forward/center Thon Maker. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Maker has asked for a trade from the Bucks.

Over the last year, Maker has seen his minutes diminish and he’s only averaging 11 per game this season. While it isn’t surprising that Maker would want more minutes, it does come off as a bit confusing that he would want a trade away from arguably the best team in the NBA this season.

Maker is only averaging five points and three rebounds per game this season, on 44 percent shooting from the field and 33 percent from 3-point range.

While it would be interesting to see Maker get more minutes, even if it comes on a different team, you can’t help but question where he’s coming from. This doesn’t really come off as the best, and would make contending teams hesitant on potentially making a move for the young big man.

Would he accept a backup role on a team? Would he still complain about not getting enough minutes if he continues to play behind a player that he believes he’s better than? There’s a number of different elements that could come into play, especially when we don’t know the entire story.

Nevertheless, from all accounts, it appears that Thon Maker is another player that will be on the trade block as the deadline quickly approaches. Will he find a new home sooner rather than later?
