NBA Trade Deadline Preview: 24 trade candidates and possible deals
By Shade Piper
Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
Likeliness to get traded: 7/10
Anthony Davis and his agent set social media on fire when they announced that AD doesn’t intend to re-sign with the Pelicans and requested a trade. This immediately made him the best player available and I’m sure he has front offices across the league scrambling to see if a trade for AD is a realistic possibility for their franchises.
Davis is a stud and is a dream addition for any team in the league. It isn’t very often that a generational talent like AD goes on the trading block in the middle of his prime. It appears that AD’s preferred destination is LA, so that might scare a lot of teams off. With him set to become a free agent after next season and his crosshairs pointed at LA, I wouldn’t blame teams for being weary of trading for him despite being a generational talent.
The Pelicans also apparently don’t want to work on a deal with LA, so that is going to complicate things and could open the door for other teams who are willing to take the risk. I do think, however, that eventually the Pelicans realize that AD’s focus on LA is scaring a lot of teams off and will eventually engage in trade talks with LA.
Trade Idea: Lakers trade Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Ivica Zubac, Michael Beasley, Isaac Bonga, and a first-round pick for Anthony Davis and Kenrich Williams
