NBA Trade Rumors: The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in trading for Jabari Parker, and reportedly could be a Laker soon
The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be one of the most active teams in the days leading up to the NBA Trade Deadline. And while all the attention is whether they’ll land Anthony Davis before the deadline, there is another player that the team is reportedly eyeing.
Jabari Parker, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, is a player that the Lakers have targeted recently and could be a Laker sooner rather than later.
In the “Game Time” podcast, Windy said as much.

"[via ESPN]“[Kentavious Caldwell-Pope] is available and has been floated out there for some spots. One place that they have talked to, now I’m not saying this deal is going to get done, but one place they have talked to is Chicago for Jabari Parker.…Parker could be a Laker within the next few days."
This would be an interesting move for the Lakers, if they can pull this off ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline. And that’s no matter what happens with Anthony Davis.
Parker was signed to a $40 million contract over the summer by the Chicago Bulls. Simply put, it hasn’t worked this season. Parker has reportedly been on the trade block since he was pulled from the team’s rotation.
Even though he’s returned to the rotation and is now playing steady minutes for the team, I think it’s safe to say the Bulls would still like to move on from their off-season mistake. Parker is a talent, no doubt, but his inability to perform at a high level on the defensive end has been something that the Bulls can’t live with.
Would it be any different with the Lakers? Who knows, but he’s a talent that the team should definitely take a chance on, especially if it comes with little-to-no risk – Parker has a team option for next season, which makes him essentially an expiring contract.
