The Lakers’ new offer for Anthony Davis, which includes Brandon Ingram, could be the one the New Orleans Pelicans accept

The Anthony Davis sweepstakes may be at its climax right now.

On Monday, the Los Angeles Lakers reportedly increased their offer to the New Orleans Pelicans, as they continue to pursuit Anthony Davis, in what could be a haul of players.

The offer on the table, according to Brad Turner of the LA Times, includes Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Rajon Rondo, Michael Beasley, Lance Stephenson and two first-round picks.

This is all in exchange for Davis and Solomon Hill. The initial trade offer of the Lakers did not include Ingram, Stephenson and one less first-round pick. It’s not clear if the Pelicans will accept the offer or not, but if they do it appears that Ingram might’ve been the missing piece to completing this deal.

He is the player that has the highest potential of all LA’s young talent, and it doesn’t help the fact that Lonzo Ball reportedly doesn’t want to be in New Orleans.

Lavar Ball, his outspoken father, has already stated that he would like for his son to stay in LA, but if moved, he believes Phoenix is the best fit for him.

The Lakers are exploring every avenue to get their hands on the All-NBA big man, even if that means sending a freight load of young pieces.

Not only the youth, but the Pelicans would be crazy to not acknowledge the picks. These picks will probably be late in the first round, considering the Lakers win an immense amount of games.

Picks are the building blocks to a rebuild no matter what selection they are. Perhaps the Pelicans front office can flip the picks in a package for another player (if they so choose).

On the contrary, the Pelicans front office may have their minds set to a team in the northeast: The Boston Celtics.

They have a treasure chest of picks and could possibly offer the Pelicans much more than the Lakers. Due to the Rose rule, the Celtics can’t trade for Davis at this moment due to Kyrie Irving’s contract.

There are a few loop holes to this:

  1. Trade Irving and go after Davis. Honestly, I don’t think Pelicans need Irving because they have Jrue Holiday, but there is always room for an upgrade.
  2. Hold off for another season, then get Davis. The Celtics will be set for years to come. It’s obvious that Davis has had enough in New Orleans, so sticking with them for another season won’t be wise. But if the Celtics want him, they need to work out something with his agent Rich Paul.
  3. Make a case until July 1 to get AD. It is highly unlikely due to the urgency of him wanting to get off the Pelicans. Also, the Lakers are all-in on Davis. But hey, you never know doubt Danny Ainge.
