Steve Nash, Guard (1996-2014)

Teams: Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers

Career best stat line: 15.5 points, 11.5 assists, 43% 3PT (2004-05)

Even though Steve Nash is in the Hall of Fame for the accolades he received and the successful seasons he had playing for the Phoenix Suns organization, his best years occurred in the 2000s, a time period that still followed a traditional standard: point guards initiating the offense, first, and looking for their own offense, second.

But this era would have forced Nash to utilize his offensive skills and become more aggressive on the offensive end. In a statement regarding his scoring mentality at the time, Nash stated:

"“Nellie [launched] my career in pushing me to be aggressive and score the ball. But I never took it to the heights that the numbers validate in today’s day and age, where I probably should have shot the ball 20 times a game. It probably would have made a lot more sense.“"

Nash would thrive in today’s game, and would be considered as probably the best point guard playing today. It, no question, would’ve been amazing to see his style embraced even more.
