In what may end up being a historical summer, the 2019 NBA off-season will be all about super teams

It was back in 2010 when three NBA superstars decided to team up and form a “super team.” That team of course was the Miami Heat and those three players were LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

It wasn’t common at the time for players of their talent level to team up and it was a move that was met with great hostility.

Because of those three, more superstars have wanted to follow that model and make a super team. It was during the summer of 2016 that Kevin Durant would set the NBA landscape on fire when he announced he was leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder and signing with the Golden State Warriors who were coming off of two straight NBA Finals appearances and had won one title.

Fast forward to now and we’ve seen teams attempt to make their own version of a super team from the Philadelphia 76ers who added Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler to their team to pair with stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons while also seeing teams prepare for an attempt at a super team.

The Los Angeles Clippers, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics are constantly mentioned as teams that will attempt to make a super team this summer. The Los Angeles Lakers are also in that mix but they are slightly different as they already have LeBron James, who is considered by most as the games best player.

The Lakers are trying desperately to get a superstar paired with LeBron and most of their efforts have been on landing Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans.

When the 2019 offseason begins it will be non-stop rumors as all of those previous mentioned teams as well as some others attempt to make their own super team. As each star is signed a domino will fall and fans will wait impatiently for the next big name to sign a deal.

It won’t just be the teams looking to form their own super team that will be busy as teams such as the Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks will be looking to keep their key players from leaving in free agency.

No matter what this upcoming offseason will drastically change the NBA landscape and the amount of talk and exposure that will come is very good for a league that’s fans have become apathetic due to the Warriors and LeBron James success.
