Heading into the NBA Trade Deadline, not much was expected from the Phoenix Suns. They had already sold off Trevor Ariza earlier this year to the Wizards and, if anything, needed to add a point guard to their roster.

However, considering that the Suns are competition for anything this season, that still could’ve waited. They did end up snagging somewhat a stopgap at the deadline though, by acquiring Tyler Johnson from the Heat in exchange for Ryan Anderson.

Johnson will be an expiring contract next season, so if the Suns would so choose to they could probably move him during the summer or earlier next year. Phoenix didn’t necessarily get better by any means at the trade deadline, but they did take a shot on a young player.
