24. Washington Wizards (24-33)
Just when it looked like the Washington Wizards were going to stand pat at the NBA Trade Deadline and make a real push towards the playoffs, they stunned many by moving Otto Porter Jr. the day before deadline day.
Washington moved OPJ to the Bulls for Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker – two players that could be free agents after this season. On the surface, this looks like a money-saving move on the part of the Wizards, who will have the John Wall‘s supermax kicking in next season, and soon having to pay Bradley Beal.
I’m not sure what the Wizards do next, perhaps try to move Wall’s big contract, but no matter what course of action is on deck, nothing is going to be easy. And Wall’s injury is a big reason why – he’s expected to miss 11-15 months. That will complicate this team’s immediate future.
