With the 2019 NBA All-Star weekend upon us, we make a few picks for the festivities

The funniest – possibly most entertaining, depending on who you ask – weekend of the NBA season is here once again as some of the best players in the league compete to bring home a trophy in the All-Star game and several annual contests.

Here are my picks to bring home trophies.

Who will be the MVP of the All Star game? This is probably the toughest question to answer this weekend. Usually, the player who wins the award is the one who scored the most points for the winning team by taking a lot of shots and not passing the ball.

More from Sir Charles In Charge

My Pick: I believe LeBron James team will win the game, so I am picking the Houston Rockets James Harden to win the MVP award. My second choice would be the Los Angeles Lakers James who likely will fill the stat line with a triple-double.

Who will win the 3-point contest? First off, it would be fun to see the Golden State Warriors Steph Curry meet his brother Portland Trail Blazers guard Seth Curry in the finals, but I do not see that happening.

My Pick:  I am picking Steph to face off against defending champion Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns followed by Curry bringing home the trophy.

Who will win the Slam Dunk Contest? This could be one of the best dunk contest’s in years. The Charlotte Hornets high-flyer Miles Bridges is the real deal and can make difficult dunks like a 360 look easy as he demonstrated on Dunkademics.

The New York Knicks point guard Dennis Smith Jr. has a 48-inch vertical jump and can do any dunk you can imagine, but he has small hands which hurts him on dunks as he sometimes loses the ball as was the case in last year’s Dunk Contest.

Last night Atlanta Hawks power forward John Collins gave us a preview of his dunking ability in the Rising Stars Challenge by throwing down several dunks including a spin around alley up dunk.

My pick: I know most people will pick Dennis Smith Jr. to win but I am going with the other high-flyer Miles Bridges to bring home the trophy.

Who will win the Skills Challenge? Another tough contest to pick a winner as big men has won the last 3 out of 4 years.

My Pick: I am picking the Dallas Mavericks guard and Rookie of the Year favorite Luka Doncic to win because of his speed, ball-handling and shooting ability.
