12. San Antonio Spurs (33-26)
The San Antonio Spurs are on pace to make the playoffs once again, but there is serious doubt about their future. Gregg Popovich seems like a ticking time bomb, in terms of retiring and they don’t have any clear direction.
They have DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge, but neither of them is of them are considered the future of the Spurs. They don’t have any real young, promising players that will take them to the next level – and that’s generally something you want to see from a team if they are heading into a transition stage.
For now, the Spurs are still relevant, but they could be on the verge of a long rebuild in the not-so-distant future, and if Pop isn’t at the center of it, it could make it all the more difficult.
