NBA: 5 non-All-Stars having underrated seasons in 2018-19
By Tobi Altizer
Josh Richardson, Miami Heat
Most of the attention the Miami Heat have gotten this season has been about Dwyane Wade’s One Last Dance. But Josh Richardson has been having a great season that hasn’t been talked about.
Richardson is leading the team in scoring at 17.6 points per game. He has increased his scoring average each season. This season, he increased his average from 12.9 last year to 17.6 this year.
Richardson has become the biggest offensive threat for the Heat. After Goran Dragic went down with a knee injury, Richardson became the primary option. He has responded well to taking over the load on offense.
Richardson has improved tremendously since he was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft. The Heat are enjoying the ride of Wade’s One Last Dance, but they may have just seen their future star find his stride this year.
Richardson will need to improve his scoring efficiency, but he has proven himself to be a good shooter from deep. He is shooting 37.8% from three this season on 352 attempts which is 20th in the league.
Josh Richardson is a great piece for the Miami Heat. Going forward, he is someone they can depend on as a deep threat and a volume shooter. He is having an underrated season for the Heat.
