NBA: 5 non-All-Stars having underrated seasons in 2018-19
By Tobi Altizer
Julius Randle, New Orleans Pelicans
Julius Randle has been having a great season for the New Orleans Pelicans. Randle has flourished in his role off the bench for the Pelicans.
Randle has played in 52 of the Pelicans games and has come off the bench for 24 of them. Even though he comes off the bench most nights, Randle is still playing a career high in minutes. He has turned that career high in minutes into a career high in points at 20.2.
It is easy to forget about Randle with all the Anthony Davis drama, but Randle gives the Pelicans a good replacement for when Anthony Davis leaves New Orleans. Randle is only 24 years old, so he is someone the Pelicans can build around in the long-term.
Julius Randle will find himself as an All-Star soon if he continues to have seasons like this season. He is averaging 9.1 rebounds and 20.2 points on 54.0 percent shooting. There is plenty of uncertainty in New Orleans, but Randle is someone they can depend on.
Much of the attention in New Orleans goes to Anthony Davis, but Julius Randle has been having a season worth talking about. If Randle continues to play like this, he will find himself as a perennial All-Star.
