NBA: Stars who will shine the brightest during the playoff push
DeMarcus Cousins, Golden State Warriors
Just like Kevin Love, DeMarcus Cousins has just recently returned from injury. What contrasts him from Love however is that Boogie hasn’t played in about a year. A torn Achilles took him down midseason last year, and later that summer as a free agent he took the only offer he received from the Golden State Warriors.
This signing was almost as blasphemous as when Kevin Durant joined the dubs two years prior; possibly the greatest team ever assembled just got greater. Cousins and the Warriors are both at an understanding that this season is a rehabilitation back into basketball for him. With that said though, the whole NBA world was shaking with excitement when he finally returned, and all five Golden State superstars stepped on the court together.
The Warriors have continued to be utterly invincible and Cousins has played a major role starting in every game since his return. Although he’s playing fewer minutes and dropping lower numbers he’s still playing exceptionally especially for a recovery year. Boogie is going to continue this performance into the postseason and exponentially increase his impact as the remainder of the season progresses. Unlike Love, whose talents are unappreciated on a tanking team, the best center in the league is only getting started.
