Dirk Nowitzki has reportedly not ruled out returning for another season with the Dallas Mavericks
From the NBA commissioner to several opposing teams many are operating under the belief that this will be the final season for future hall of famer Dirk Nowitzki. The problem is, Dirk hasn’t exactly announced that this will be his final season.
In fact, while he hasn’t exactly said that he plans on retiring for another season with the Dallas Mavericks, he isn’t exactly ruling one more year out either. What will it come down to? Well, for one, it will depend on how his body reacts.
Which could make things all the more awkward.

"“I’d love to be there for the young guys one more year, but I think it depends on how the body feels.”"
As expected, it sounds like it will come down to how healthy he is or isn’t at the end of the year. Dirk has admitted that he’s struggled with some nagging injuries this season, but also states that it’s been better recently.
Perhaps that could signal where he’s leaning headed into the final 20, or so, games of the regular season. Dirk is only averaging six points per game on 35 percent shooting for the field, logging just 12 minutes per contest.
With that said, there’s no question that his leadership and mentorship could be an asset for this franchise moving forward, especially as they prepare to hand over the keys to Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis next season.
It would certainly be a nice sight to see, if Dirk can come back for one more season. At the same time, it would be somewhat weird considering that most are acting like this is Dirk’s farewell tour.
