NBA Rumors: Pelicans have no plans to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers
NBA Rumors: Even heading into the summer the New Orleans Pelicans have no plans on trading Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers are headed into arguably their biggest off-season in recent history, and they have their hopes might fall upon their ability to land Anthony Davis – or a player at his caliber.
The big problem is, even if you believe that Los Angeles has the assets to get a deal done for the perennial All-NBA player, the fact that the New Orleans Pelicans have made it a goal to not move AD to the Lakers. And considering that Davis still has one year left on his deal, it makes it all the more difficult to figure out how LA is going to land their star?
And from all indications, it seems like the Pelicans are going to continue with that blueprint headed into the summer.

Come the off-season, there will be a vast market for Anthony Davis, assuming that the Pelicans resume shopping him at the NBA Draft and potentially into July if they don’t come to an agreement before that.
The Boston Celtics figure to be a factor in all this, especially if they can figure out a way to get Kyrie Irving to recommit – and landing a player like Anthony Davis (possibly at the NBA Draft) might be enough to make it all happen.
Boston is also the team that has the most to offer New Orleans in any Davis trade, even more so if they’re willing to include a player like Jayson Tatum, who is at the top of the Pelicans’ wishlist in any deal of their superstar.
This all becomes real interesting if Boston never enters the Anthony Davis bidding war – and would certainly work in the Lakers’ favor. However, that seems like an unlikely scenario. It’s beginning to look more and more unlikely that Anthony Davis will be in a Lakers uniform in 2019-20.
And if the Lakers are going to land Anthony Davis at all, it’s going to be after he becomes a free agent in 2020. Problem is, the Lakers can’t afford to throw away another season of LeBron’s career. The Lakers have some big decisions to make this summer.
