2019 NBA Draft: 20 prospects to watch during the NCAA Tournament
By Tobi Altizer
Carsen Edwards, Guard, Purdue (#48 Ranked Prospect)
Carsen Edwards is one of the nation’s leading scorers at 23.0 points per game. The junior guard has increased his scoring output every year but has seen his efficiency drop a bit this year.
Edwards is an incredible scorer from all over the floor. He can score from anywhere, but his size will limit that at the next level. He only measures 6-foot-1 which will take away some of his inside game, but he still is able to shoot well from outside.
Edwards is only shooting 33.5 percent from beyond the arc this year, but last year, he shot over 40 percent from 3-point range. He certainly has the ability to score, but will it translate to the NBA? He will have to be much more efficient for NBA GMs to fall in love with him. He is only shooting 38.6 percent from the field this year.
Carsen Edwards has great potential as a scorer at the next level, but there are several factors holding him back. If he can overcome his size and lack of efficiency, he could be a good player in the NBA.
Edwards will have a great chance to show his worth during the NCAA Tournament. He showed that he can lead a top team as he led Purdue to a share of the regular season Big 10 title and a #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. It should be fun to see how far he can take them in the tournament.
