2019 NBA Draft: 20 prospects to watch during the NCAA Tournament
By Tobi Altizer
De’Andre Hunter, Forward, Virginia (#6 Ranked Prospect)/Ty Jerome, Guard, Virginia (#34 Ranked Prospect)
Virginia is ready to avenge their historic loss in last year’s tournament. The biggest difference for Virginia this year is that sophomore De’Andre Hunter will be able to play. Hunter missed last year’s tournament due to injury, but this year, he has turned into one of the best prospects in the NCAA.
Hunter is known for his incredible defense. He won the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award this season. His great size allows him to guard multiple positions, and his lateral quickness allows him to stick with guards on the perimeter.
De’Andre Hunter also has a great offensive game. This season he has scored 15.1 on 53.0 percent shooting. He has a good outside game but an even better inside game.
Hunter gets plenty of attention, but Ty Jerome has also had a great season for the Cavaliers. The junior guard has played a major role in UVA’s offense this year. He has a great all-around game. He averages 13.0 points, 5.4 assists, and 4.0 rebounds.
He is a great shooter at 39.7 percent from deep this season. Jerome plays a major role in orchestrating the Cavaliers’ offense. He along with Hunter have helped lead Virginia to another No. 1 seed. This year, they hope to take advantage of that seed and make a deep tournament run.
