3. Cleveland Cavaliers – RJ Barrett, G/F, Duke
Should RJ Barrett fall to the Cleveland Cavaliers at No. 3, they’d be ecstatic and could make the case for being in the best position in the draft. Adding Barrett to the young core of Collin Sexton, and whoever they land in the eventual Kevin Love deal, would be a good foundation for this franchise.
Plus, there could be a case made that Barrett might be the best pro of the bench in 5-6 years. He was the highest rated high school player just a few months ago, but has been leapfrogged in part to the highlight machine that is Zion Williamson.
In his freshman season, Barrett is averaging 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists per contest, on 46 percent shooting from the field. You’d like to see a bit more consistency in his jump shot, but that could come with time and under NBA shooting coaches. Landing Barrett with the third pick would be a huge win for the Cavs.
