NBA Draft: Prospects who are trending up heading into the Final Four
By Tron Griffin
Coby White, North Carolina
White should be a lottery pick in this year’s draft. He has went from being a mid to late first round pick to being a Top 5-10 draft prospect in many mock drafts. He is a good 3-pointer shooter who has made more three pointers than any freshman in North Carolina’s history, but his low release point has led to his shot being blocked several times by tall defenders. His release point is something any team who draft him will likely correct right away.
It used to be a time when drafting a top player from North Carolina was almost considered a no-brainer. Well, that time is over. Too many players like Sean May, Raymond Felton and far too little Vince Carter and Michael Jordan type players have changed that trend.
White could be a great scorer in the NBA. He can shoot the 3 from anywhere on the court and can finish with either hand, but the biggest question is: What can he do when he is having a bad shooting night?
Hopefully, he will drive to the basket where he is good at finishing at the rim, but his speed is not as good as scouts would like it to be.
