Ja Morant has had a historic season in college basketball this year and has forced his name to be taken serious for consideration of the top overall prospect in the 2019 NBA Draft. Morant became the first player in NCAA history to average 20 points and 10 assists for an entire season. Morant’s rise to stardom hasn’t been the same as say Duke’s Star Freshmen Zion Williamson or RJ Barrett but Morant has the pedigree to match any prospect in this upcoming draft.
Morant’s game has been compared to Damian Lillard and Russell Westbrook. Morant is a advanced playmaker that can dominate the game as a passer or as lethal scorer. In either fashion Morant can produce on the offensive end like no other in this NBA Draft.
What sets Morant apart at this stage is his eye-popping athleticism and high-level offensive skill-set. Morant projects to be a high-level NBA star if he can avoid injuries. Morant has the potential to be something like Russell Westbrook if he realizes his full upside. But I believe at worst case Morant will be a high-level starter that can lead the league in assists a few times over the course of his career.
