NBA: Best and worst case scenario for every West team headed into the off-season
Oklahoma City Thunder
Record: 48-33
Best Case: The Thunder get Paul George playing back at MVP level and Russell Westbrook looks like a madman all over the court. The Thunder are able to pull back-to-back upsets before taking the Warriors to seven games in a series that is full of trash talk and physicality.
Worst Case: The Thunder’s end of the season struggles continue in the playoffs and they are bounced in five games by the Portland Trail Blazers. Then OKC has to watch as Kevin Durant and the Warriors win another title and KD is named Finals MVP for a third straight season.
Utah Jazz
Record: 50-31
Best Case: The Jazz make the second round of the playoffs after beating the Rockets in seven and then in the offseason Utah allows Ricky Rubio to leave as a free agent before replacing him with a better option. The Jazz are able to work out a trade this time with Memphis and land Mike Conley.
Worst Case: The Jazz get knocked out of the playoffs in the first round and then after letting Rubio go they are unable to land a replacement that’s an upgrade and go into next season with a major question mark at point guard.
