What if the Knicks win the NBA Draft Lottery?

Even though the New York Knicks have the best chance to land the No. 1 overall pick (along with the Suns and Cavaliers), there’s still a better chance that they don’t than they do. However, in the event that they do win the NBA Draft Lottery and secure the top spot in the 2019 NBA Draft, it brings an interesting set of questions for the team headed into the summer.

If the Knicks were to secure the No. 1 pick in the draft, it would mean they would essentially have Zion Williamson in their back pockets. In the event that they believe they already have a good shot at landing Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant, or both, they could get really aggressive on draft night and potentially try to acquire Anthony Davis with using Zion as trade bait.

If you can guarantee landing both KD and Kyrie, while simply trading the rights to Zion Williamson for Anthony Davis (and salary filler) on draft night, I’m not sure how the Knicks don’t try to make it all happen. They’d probably have to do some salary cap gymnastics to make it all work, but the Knicks could be sitting on a winning lottery ticket, but it largely hinges on whether or not they can win the NBA Draft Lottery first.

If the Knicks were to win the draft lottery, absolute madness would ensue in New York and for Knicks fans everywhere.
