Boston Celtics: 5 reasons why they will make a run to the NBA Finals
Kyrie Irving is a magician
Let me know when you find another player who is as hungry for a title as Uncle Drew is and I’ll be sure to give you your credit. Until then, I’ll go ahead and say it: nobody wants to win a championship this year more than the Kyrie Irving does for the city of Boston, but also for himself and his legacy.
Kyrie Irving is a leader and a good one, for that matter. After going to the Finals (and winning one) three times in Cleveland, Irving now has his own team and, as his 7.8 assists per game in the first round prove, he’s got more faith in his teammates than ever before.
And that’s the key: confidence, not in himself, but his teammates.
Whether it was celebrating his teammate’s remarkable plays or him teeing off from 30 feet, many who watched the Pacers series could see just how confident he was.
We know what he’s capable of, and we know that a poor performance every once in a while is going to happen. However, 40 percent shooting from the field won’t cut it against the lanky Bucks in the second round, or any other team they may face after them. That said, Irving will shake off a rough first round and continue to shoot because that’s what he does better than anyone else on the team: score the basketball.
Playoff Kyrie is back, and he’s taking them to the Promised Land.
