This Boston Celtics would be picking 10th in this year’s draft, thanks to a trade with the Grizzlies, and short of a draft day trade with the Pelicans for Anthony Davis, I think it’s important for the Celtics to make sure they have a contingency plan in the event that Kyrie Irving elects to leave in free agency.
And with the 10th pick, the Celtics would have a good chance to do that by adding a player like Coby White, who had a better than expected first year with the North Carolina Tar Heels. At 6-foot-5, White has great size for a guard and showed the ability to be more than a capable scorer, averaging 16 points, four rebounds and four assists on 42 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent from 3-point range.
Should the Celtics have any worry about Kyrie making a move during the summer, addressing the point guard position with their first pick would be a great move.
