The Celtics selecting for a third time won’t be ideal for what this team hopes to be next season, but taking a flier on a player like P.J. Washington would be a good for the team at this point in the NBA Draft. Washington impressed throughout this season and has the look of a player that could come in and play a role as soon as he steps onto the floor.
During his sophomore season at Kentucky, Washington averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and two assists on 52 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range – which was his best improvement from last year.
Adding a consistent 3-point shot will no question help his draft status, and should create a route for him to play a role in the NBA. I’m not sure if Boston is the place for Washington, mostly because the Celtics are absolutely stacked across their frontline, but there’s no question that he could find a home in the NBA.
