Landing the No. 3 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft would be somewhat disappointing for the New York Knicks. However, the good news is that there are three elite prospects in this class, and the third of the group is none other than Ja Morant, the dynamic point guard from Murray State.
While it would’ve been great for the Knicks to snag Zion, a generational talent, adding the star power of Morant wouldn’t be the worst of moves either. Although, in fairness, it could blurry this team’s summer as they’ve been recently connected to potentially adding Kyrie Irving via free agency.
Nevertheless, that’s something the team could worry about later, potentially moving Morant to a third team in a bigger trade for another star (perhaps for Anthony Davis) in the event that the team lands Kyrie or another big-name.
That aside, with the third pick in the draft, coming away with Ja Morant would be considered a successful year for the Knicks. They’d be back in the right spot and would have a new potential face of the franchise to build around.
