The Cleveland Cavaliers have a number of holes to fix and the development of Collin Sexton during his rookie season was certainly something the franchise should be excited about, but the team could go any of number of ways with the No. 5 overall pick. While they could choose to pick a player with an extremely high upside, they could also go with a player like De’Andre Hunter who is more of a prospect that could contribute from day 1.
At the same time, he may never be the star that the Cavs are hoping to land with the top 5 pick in the draft. However, Hunter’s floor could be enough to see him blossom into a viable 3-and-D player for years to come in the NBA.
Right now, more than anything, the Cavs need players that could contribute and help this team win games and improve. Hunter will effectively do that, as he averaged 15 points, five rebounds and two assists on 52 percent shooting from the field and 38 percent shooting from 3-point range en route to winning an NCAA Championship for Virginia.
