Golden State Warriors vs. Houston Rockets: 6 storylines to follow
By Ethan Becker
The history
A lot of people may not know this, but this series actually makes the fourth time in five years that the Rockets and Warriors have met in the playoffs, with the teams missing each other in 2017.
In the three previous series, the Warriors are 3-0. In those games, the Warriors average about 104 points per game, and the Rockets average about 92 points per game. The Warriors have found themselves with homecourt advantage to start all but one series, and they will be starting in Oracle for this year’s matchup.
While in Oakland, the Warriors are 8-1 against the Rockets in playoff games. The Warriors don’t seem intent on slowing their wave of domination when they go to Houston either, but they do find it much harder to win in the Toyota Center, going just 4-4 when the Rockets are at home. The Warriors lead the series overall, with a record of 12-5.
Even though that all might seem dreary for the Rockets, there is some good news. The only loss that the Warriors suffered at home was during last year’s matchup, and last year was the only year that a Warriors vs. Rockets series did not go just five games.
