NBA Rumors: Why the Lakers may present the best option for Kyrie Irving
New York Knicks
Why it makes sense: The Knicks make a ton of sense for Kyrie Irving, even more so if you are under the impression that Kevin Durant will be joining him there too. After all, making the move to New York (without Durant) would be really head-scratching. Kyrie has to know, by now, that if he’s going to do any kind of winning at this point in the NBA, you need, at the very least, two stars.
Right now, the Knicks don’t have any of those – even if they land the No. 1 overall pick. Kyrie wouldn’t join the Knicks by himself. But if Durant has made it known to Kyrie that he will be taking his talents to New York, it makes a lot of sense as to why the Knicks are a real option for Kyrie.
Why it doesn’t make sense: The Knicks are historically a disaster. Plus, there’s no guarantee that this team will have the ability to close the deal on any of the other big free agents. In the event that Durant elects to sign elsewhere, Kyrie won’t like the idea of playing with a bunch of young players – even if it is Zion Williamson included.
Kyrie made it known he didn’t like that part of playing for the Celtics this season. Why would that change with less talented youngins?
