Eastern Conference: What will Kawhi do?
Kawhi Leonard seems hellbent on getting to the NBA Finals and proving the Spurs wrong. But that begs the question: What does Kawhi do this offseason? During his problems with the Spurs last year, it came out that Kawhi wanted to leave, and LA was a prime destination. However, whether that was the Clippers or the Lakers was uncertain. One thing, though, seems sure; and that is that Kawhi is not staying Toronto.
But how sure are we? Reportedly, Kawhi didn’t want to play for Toronto as his trade talks progressed, but before the season started he seemed to be warming up to the idea. Not only that, but Kawhi allegedly does not want to play with LeBron, and if the Raptors go to the Finals, and if they win, then they might have a big case for Leonard to stay. With that, if the Clippers do land a big free agent like Kevin Durant, there won’t be much room for him left in the books.
Ultimately, like all free agency rumors, we don’t know. But one thing seems certain, so long as he is on the team, Kawhi seems committed to succeeding in Toronto.
