Darius Garland, G, Vanderbilt
HT: 6-foot-2 (6-foot-5 wingspan)
WT: 175 Lbs
Strengths: True lead guard, offensive creativity, an excellent shooter with range, very skilled, special handles
Pro Comparisons: Rafer Alston, Nick Van Exel
Best Team Fit: Minnesota Timberwolves
Darius Garland wasn’t able to show the world how good he was this past season at Vanderbilt after going down to season-ending injury just five games into the year. However, Garland is still projected as one of the best guards in the entire 2019 NBA Draft class.
Garland is a skilled playmaking point guard that can truly fill it up from anywhere on the basketball court. Garland has drawn similarities to Kyrie Irving due to his high skill with the ball in his hands.
Garland’s skills make him a player quite a few teams in the NBA might even trade up to try to select. Garland has the potential to make several all-star games and be a top-tier offensively productive guard in the NBA for years.
The best fit for Garland would be with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The T-Wolves have struggled to nail down the right player for their point guard position in the past few years and adding Garland to the core of Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony-Towns is also an excellent basketball fit. Garland could give the Wolves similar to what an older Derrick Rose did for them this season but could allow the Wolves to grow and mature together.
