NBA Draft: Best team fit for each of the top 10 prospects
By Kyle Crabbe
DeAndre Hunter, F, Virginia
HT: 6-foot-7 (7-foot- wingspan)
WT: 220 Lbs
Strengths: High-level defender, great 3-and D potential, excellent off the ball player
Pro Comparisons: Trevor Ariza, Wesley Johnson
Best Team Fit: Los Angeles Lakers
DeAndre Hunter is coming off a college season in which he improved his draft stock and proved he belongs in the lottery. Hunter is an excellent team-first player that possesses great versatility for both ends of the basketball court.
Hunter plays the game smart and is an excellent team defender and a high-level individual defensive player. Hunter’s game features him as a smart offensive player that plays very well off the ball with his abilities to make great cuts to the basketball and shoot the 3-ball very well on kick outs to him.
After this past season, we saw the Los Angeles Lakers struggle to spread the court for LeBron James and as a team struggles to play defense at a high level, DeAndre Hunter might be the perfect player for the Lakers to draft in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Hunter could easily play alongside the Lakers current core players and off the Lakers main playmakers of Lonzo Ball and the aforementioned LeBron James. As Hunter’s spot-up jumper continues to improve and he matures as an NBA defender, whoever drafts Hunter might be getting the next elite 3-and-D wing.
