NBA Draft: Best team fit for each of the top 10 prospects
By Kyle Crabbe
RJ Barrett, F, Duke
HT: 6-foot-7 (6-foot-9 wingspan)
WT: 210 lbs
Strengths: Offensive playmaker, defensive versatility, big moment player, ultra-aggressive competitor
Pro Comparisons: Grant Hill, DeMar DeRozan
Best Team Fit: New York Knicks
RJ Barrett is a high-level basketball prospect that is arguably the most talented basketball player in the 2019 draft class. Barrett would be a great fit in New York where his basketball pedigree would be able to be fully showcased.
Barrett is more suited than any prospect in this draft for the bright lights that come from playing in New York City and the unapologetic booing and tough love the city shows their stars.
Barrett could be an ideal partner alongside Kevin Knox, Mitchell Robinson, Dennis Smith Jr., and Frank Ntilikina. Barrett would become the alpha scorer of this young group along as he would fit comfortably with their skills and (age) timeline.
Even if the Knicks are to go big-game hunting and sign Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving or another combination of major free agents this summer, Barrett has the proper versatility to play a meaningful role next to any star player next season.
