NBA: How the playoffs and draft lottery have affected free agency
By Mack Biester
Kevin Durant
The all mighty “sources” say KD is out of Golden State and is already recruiting other players to the Knicks. Be that as it may, Durant may not be the first chess piece on the board to move, and if other drastic transactions conspire, he may well change his mind.
When I say drastic transactions, I mean Anthony Davis. The Knicks are in a strong position to heist the All-NBA big man after landing the 3rd pick in the 2019 Draft, projected by many to be RJ Barrett or Ja Morant. The Celtics, Lakers, and about 27 other teams are also crunching numbers to see how they can fleece the Pelicans out of one of the NBA’s five most dominant players.
Could one or more of these moves influence Durant to consider other options? The most notable runner up in terms of fit has to be the Clippers, who could add him and Kawhi, with runners up in Brooklyn, near his hilariously over-analyzed [new offices]. Sneakily still in the running? Golden State, with the potential to chase the title of the first team in 50+ years to win four in a row.
