Dallas Mavericks: 5 free agents to help reach the next level
By Ben Bundy
3. Nikola Vucevic
Nikola Vucevic is one of the NBA players whose numbers look great if you just look at his stats, but a lot of casual fans don’t really know who he is or what he looks like. This is almost entirely because he has spent his career as a role player for the Philadelphia 76er’s and a starter for the Orlando Magic.
Vucevic would greatly benefit from a move to a bigger market with a promising future. This is a move the Mavericks would welcome with open arms. Vucevic would give Dallas a much-needed rim protector and primary rebounder, which has been a need since losing DeAndre Jordan in the Porzingis trade.
Along with that, he would give them a serious post-scoring threat. This would fit perfectly in an offense that sees Doncic and Porzingis each playing away from the basket. Defenses would be unable to commit to guarding the perimeter, and would have to pay attention to Vucevic in the paint.
It’s likely Vucevic will be on the move this offseason, and will likely draw attention from a handful of different teams. The Mavericks should be at the top of his list of new destinations, and Dallas should do what it takes to bring him to town.
