NBA Rumors: Even though Kyrie Irving and LeBron James have reportedly made up, it’s highly unlikely the former will find his way to the Lakers this summer

Kyrie Irving to the Los Angeles Lakers this summer almost seems like too good of a story to actually come to fruition. That’s often how it plays out in the NBA. Sometimes the most likely outcomes aren’t generally the ones that play out.

This summer, Kyrie will have the opportunity to either continue his journey with the Boston Celtics (if he elects to re-sign) or begin a new chapter of his career in another city.

While there have been some whispers that he could entertain the idea of joining forces with LeBron James in Los Angeles, it seems like that was more of a media created hypothetical than an actual, reasonable possibility.

According to Jackie MacMullan of ESPN, there is frankly not much belief that Kyrie will end up with the Lakers.

"I did a little digging around, and my feeling is very strongly that – while LeBron and Kyrie have kissed and made up – that Kyrie is not going there. He’s just not. I just don’t believe it. And I think people close to him just don’t believe it either."

While Kyrie and LeBron might’ve worked in the past, it’s not to say that it’ll work again with the Lakers. And Irving to the Lakers never really lined up with what he hasn’t wanted in his career as of late. From all indications, Irving has wanted to carve out his own legacy separate from his time with LeBron. Which is why he demanded a trade away from the Cleveland Cavaliers a couple of years ago.

For Kyrie to throw that all away and crawl his way back to a similar situation that he was in a couple of years ago really doesn’t make much sense.

Kyrie Irving could very well end up leaving the Celtics this summer, but it’s pretty safe to say that he won’t be taking his talents to join LeBron in Los Angeles.
