Los Angeles Clippers: 5 free agents to help become a contender
By Ben Bundy
Kawhi Leonard
Let’s just get this out of the way right now. Either of the last two guys are players that would vault the Clippers to championship status. Kawhi Leonard is basically 1B. With that said, all season long Leonard has been linked with Los Angeles, with many still expecting to leave the Toronto Raptors this offseason.
Leonard is one of the NBA’s greatest players, and you could make the case he is as good as anyone in the world right now. The Clippers will do any and everything they can to bring Leonard out west with hopes that he is the missing piece they’ve been looking for.
It’s no surprise why the Clippers are so set on signing Leonard either. He is arguably the best two-way player the game has right now. He is one of, if not, the best defender in the league and can lock down pretty much anyone he’s matched up with. Offensively, Leonard is very efficient and confident with the ball. He is someone who you know you can count on 20 points from every night.
The only thing potentially standing between Leonard’s move to Los Angeles could be the success he has had in his one season with the Raptors. If he leads Toronto to the city’s first ever NBA title who knows what he might decide to do? Clippers fans everywhere will likely be doing something very tough for them during the year’s Finals…pulling for the Warriors.
