NBA Rumors: According to a report, Kawhi Leonard may be set on re-signing with the Toronto Raptors this summer

After an impressive Game 1 performance in the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, the Toronto Raptors are just three wins away from their first NBA Championship in franchise history. And a big reason why they’re in this spot has been the play of Kawhi Leonard.

The Raptors traded for Leonard last summer, somewhat risking that it was deal made for a one-year rental. Leonard is a free agent this summer and has been long rumored to Los Angeles. Even though Kawhi has never really come out and said it, or even anything close to that, the narrative on Kawhi all season has revolved around him eventually signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Perhaps that has changed with the amount of success both he and the Raptors have achieved during this postseason run? According to a report from TrueHoop, perhaps there is some truth to that.

If Kawhi actually re-signed with the Raptors, it wouldn’t exactly be the most surprising revelation. Toronto is almost the perfect place for a player like Kawhi. He’s low key, doesn’t like to be under the microscope much and is somewhat protected from the national media in an entirely different country.

And in just one season, Kawhi has turned the Raptors into a joke in the playoffs to a legit contender that could be on the verge of upending arguably the greatest dynasty in NBA history. In the event that Kevin Durant doesn’t return until late in the series, or if he simply isn’t himself when he does eventually return, there’s a very good chance that the Raptors will have a good shot at winning the NBA Championship – something that was almost inconceivable just a few months ago.

Kawhi and the Raptors have been great for each other. So, why wouldn’t Kawhi want to run it back next season? Even more so if they can beat the Warriors and win a championship together.
