Now that the 2019 NBA Draft Lottery is officially in the books, it’s a bit easier to mock players to teams. Not that it will be easy, but it gives us a clear idea of how the board will unwind on draft night.
With New Orleans winning the first overall pick and Memphis leapfrogging New York for the second pick, it’s going to be interesting to see how the rest of the lottery shakes out. Without further ado, let’s get on with our NBA Mock Draft 5.0.
With the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, the New Orleans Pelicans will take Zion Williamson. I know, big shocker here. Perhaps the best part of New Orleans winning the draft lottery is that it will allow the Pelicans to move Anthony Davis without much pressure.
They have a new face of the franchise, so losing Davis wouldn’t exactly be looked at like the worst thing in the world. Anything they get in exchange for Davis will be adding to Zion’s supporting cast. The Pelicans need to pivot quickly and get this resolves as soon as possible.
The Pelicans were huge winners on NBA Draft Lottery night. No question.
