Indiana Pacers: 5 free agents to help reach the next level

2. Kemba Walker
The Pacers quickest path to the next level would be finding a star point guard to come in and orchestrate Indiana’s team of young talent. Kemba Walker is almost the perfect fit for just the position. Walker is one of the league’s most gifted scorers, and his numbers back that up. Along with that, Walker would finally be on a team with enough talent to utilize his creativity for those around him.
Walker is coming off an All-NBA season on a team who missed out on the playoffs yet again. The Charlotte Hornets are planning to do everything they can to bring Walker back, but many believe Walker could finally want to join a team with a roster set up to win right now. Indiana has a roster set up for the foreseeable future, and Walker could be the piece that propels them to that next level.
Systematically, Walker also makes sense. Oladipo is a player who can run an offense when necessary, but his athleticism and scoring ability make him someone who plays very well without the ball. Walker and Oladipo would be able to feed off each other. The pairing would make it impossible for teams to double either player. In addition, Sabonis and Turner would likely benefit from the attention each player would get.
The only reason Walker lands at number two on this list is due to his age. If the Pacers are wanting to try to win in the next couple years, then Walker is a great fit, but the window on Walker’s prime is closing sooner rather than later. That’s why a different point guard takes the number one spot on this list.
